With more than 500 area restaurants, Greensboro dining options range from elegant enclaves to rib joints, the latter reflecting a native taste for barbeque in all forms. Ethnic fare is equally varied, from Asian, Indian, and Vietnamese to Greek, Italian, and Mexican. For more than 40 years, The Barn Dinner Theater has featured a traditional American buffet and Broadway-style entertainment, and for some 30 years the family-owned Sadie May’s has dished up homemade Italian fare. Sapporo Fantasy Japanese Steak House presents some of the best sushi around, and Seoul Garden Korean BBQ Steakhouse serves traditional Korean cuisine with barbecue flair. Way Out Wings has 12 varieties to go with subs, pitas, and salads, and BoHogs brags up its East-meets-West (as in eastern / western North Carolina) flavor barbecue. Chain eateries are also plentiful, led by the original Hams (opened in Greensboro in the 1930s and now dotting the state), famed for homemade potato chips, bacon cheese fries, and what’s known as Chicken-Fried-Chicken, smothered with country gravy.
